Showstars Dance Academy was founded in 1999 by Julie Brooks. Knowing that Dance was her first love, Julie pursued the task of opening her own studio and leaving her career as an Elementary School Teacher. Presently and many students later Showstars Dance Academy is breaking the standard of dance taught in the area by hiring degreed and certified instructors to teach the latest techniques to enrich the lives of aspiring dancers in Tipton County and surrounding areas.
Showstars Dance Academy offers classes for the Recreational student and Competitive student. We have an annual Spring recital, to give every dancer the opportunity of a fun -filled performance opportunity. We also have local performances throughout the community such as Munford Celebrate, Heritage Festival, local annual Christmas Parades and performances hosted by the Tipton County Arts Council. Registration for classes is always the first Saturday in August from 9 to noon. The new class schedule will be listed on this site prior to registration.
Showstars is proud to offer competitive and prep teams. We currently have twelve competition and prep dance and cheer teams with over 20 competition soloists ranging in ages 4 to 18. These dance and Cheer teams plus soloists have won top awards and Title Awards at Regional & National Dance and Cheer Competitions for the past ten years. In 2009 Showstars won its First National Dance Championship, in Panama City Beach, Florida. The All-Star Cheer Team won Grand National Cheer Champions for 2010. Cheer Teams won a 2010 National Bid with UCA for National Cheer Finals in Orlando, FL. Level 2 Cheer Team won a Grand National Cheer Title in March 2011. Each year Showstars has been recognized as regional champions and won 2021 National Dance Championship in Fort Walton Beach, FL. In 2022 Showstars took home 6 National Champions & 1 Grand National Champion at Nationals in Branson, Missouri! These dancers and Cheerleaders work really hard, and we are very proud of them and proud to be a part of their development!
Each year Showstars is proud to award a College Scholarship to one of our senior dancers that has danced on the competitive Dance team and worked as a mentor to our younger students as a Dance assistant. We are very proud of our students achievement on the dance floor and in the classroom. Your child deserves the physical, mental, and social development that evolves through a well-organized Dance or Cheer program with qualified, certified and degreed instructors. Showstars takes great pride in bringing those qualified instructors to Tipton County. Bring your child to a facility that has a twenty-five successful history serving North Shelby County, Tipton, Lauderdale, Fayette and Dyer counties with degreed and certified instructors, professionally trained teacher assistants and student assistants working toward scholarships.
